ITC Manufacturing: Leaders in Wire Mesh Decking

How One Major Steel Company Is Pumping New Life into a City’s Economy

It is ironic in today’s modern industrial world that a steel company is actually helping to revive an entire region previously ravaged by unemployment and economic decay.  But that is exactly what is happening in Columbus, Ohio, after International Technical Coatings (ITC), a manufacturer of wire mesh products based in Phoenix, decided to expand its operations eastward.

ITC’s Focus on Quality Control Increases Performance, Reduces Waste and Saves Jobs

ITC’s Focus on Quality Control Increases Performance, Reduces Waste and Saves Jobs

Phoenix, Arizona – June 12, 2017 – International Technical Coatings (ITC) expands its quality control process to increase performance and reduce waste in its manufacturing plants in Phoenix and Columbus, Ohio.  With a focus on improvements across its entire manufacturing process, ITC has retained jobs, eliminated unnecessary procedures and made the opinions and experience of their associates the central benchmark in this successful process. As a result, the company decreased manpower from three 8 hour shifts, M-F to two 10 hour shifts, M-Th, increased productivity by almost ten percent, and eliminated waste by 0.7 percent.

“In June 2015, ITC hired Cynthia Iwasaki, corporate quality assurance manager, to help us further understand where processes could be streamlined or improved to reduce scrap, empower the workforce and facilitate continuous improvements,” said Faruk Gole, president and CEO of ITC.  “With the direction of Mrs. Iwasaki and feedback from associates, ITC’s recently implemented quality program is structured, yet flexible to support evolving industry demands while adhering to recognized industry standards.”

Gole continued, “the key our program is to involve workforce feedback at each stage of development and implementation, which has resulted in an evolving positive culture change without the resistance that usually accompanies change in management programs. ITC has updated documentation and organized work stations, and has taken the time to ask associates what they like and what they don’t.”

In implementing this workforce empowerment concept, the changes have given associates a new sense of confidence in their work and pride in their work spaces. This program is working because the changes are not dictated; rather they are a collaborative effort.

ITC Unveils Architectural Fencing Systems to the Material Handling Industry

Chicago – ProMat – (April 3, 2017) – International Technical Coatings (ITC) today introduced its renowned Architectural Fencing System (AFS) to the material handling industry, for multiple warehouse applications including safety, security and retention.  ITC has long been established as a leading manufacturer of wire mesh in North America, and is now offering its AFS, which has never previously been offered to the material handling industry. Its unparalleled quality standards combined with innovative manufacturing technology has also produced the highest quality fencing system.

“In current applications, most projects use netting, which can flex and may not fully contain the load, where AFS keeps the load in place and won’t let it flex into the flue space, which eliminates a significant problem,” said Faruk Gole, CEO of ITC.  “We believe that offering our un-matched fencing system to the warehouse environment will be a great step forward for our customers challenged to solve this problem.”

When configuring a warehouse environment, one challenge that continues today is securing the back of a structure, keeping materials from being pushed off or falling from the back of racks. AFS from ITC securely adheres to rack systems, preventing products and materials from falling as well as provides safety assurance for the parts of the warehouse where smaller items are stored.

In addition, AFS is ideal for any area that needs to be fenced off in a warehouse to bring an extra level of security including high priced items, office space or safety precautions such as hazardous materials. Installed indoor and outdoor, AFS is customizable for any configuration, and features the following benefits:

  • Various sizes and custom configurations to fit any fencing specification
  • Maintenance Free
  • Aesthetically Pleasing
  • Versatile
  • Weather Resistant
  • Secure and Strong
  • Less Obtrusive

ITC Announces Expanded Management Team and a Focus on Continued Growth

New Products Expected in 2017 to Help Expand Footprint

Phoenix, Arizona – (February 21, 2017) – International Technical Coatings (ITC), the premier manufacturer of wire mesh products, today announced that it has added two key management appointments that will help the company expand its presence across both the material handling and industrial fence industries. These positions, which include a new CFO and a new director of manufacturing, will allow ITC to meet the increasing demand for its existing offerings as well as expand into new markets with new fencing and related products.

Kathy Hanrahan, a former TASER executive, has been appointed CFO of ITC, where she oversees all accounting functions as well adds proven leadership skills to the executive staff.  With more than 30 years of experience in leading accounting and operations teams, for both public and private organizations, Hanrahan has developed skills that support lean manufacturing and scalable growth.

Rudi DeKlerk, ITC’s new director of manufacturing based in Ohio is also a veteran of the industry with more than 20 years’ experience in wire manufacturing.  He has installed and commissioned machines in 32 countries, and has expert experience in run production and maintenance.  Both hires will help support ITC and its momentum for growth beyond 2017.

“We are pleased to announce the first of several steps forward in the growth of ITC for 2017,” said founder, John Caldwell. “With the expansion of our management team as well as product innovation planned to launch later this year, we believe ITC will continue to be an industry leader. By further investing in automation and the talent within its executive staff, the company has streamlined the manufacturing process and improved its efficiency. ITC now operates as the most automated wire mesh welding plant in the United States and is the forerunner in applying technology-enhanced equipment for these industries, and has reach to serve all of North America.

This news comes on the heels of the Company’s successful emergence from Chapter 11 in January.  ITC is a privately held company capitalized by private funding.  During the proceedings, ITC maintained its strong customer base by providing exceptional quality and reliability, but more importantly, transparency.  The Company also generated strong operating income and positive cash flows throughout the process.

Caldwell continued, “We are excited about our future, and wish to thank all of our valued partners, both customers and suppliers, for their ongoing support and encouragement throughout this process.  We have endured a challenging period, but are stronger, leaner and focused on remaining the premier provider of innovative storage solutions across the United States.”
