CEO Faruk Gole had a once in a lifetime experience this last week as he embarked on a refueling mission with the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), a Department of Defense program that promotes cooperation and understanding between Reserve Component Service members and their civilian employers. ITC has been committed to hiring vets and reservist members for a number of years, but recently joined the organization officially this month. As a courtesy to the employers and their continued support, ESGR invites employers a few times of year to experience a mission. This year, Faruk was invited as the ITC representative to attend.
He and 13 other people, including six local companies, a retired general and ESGR representative boarded a Boeing USAF KC-135 Stratotanker, a military aerial refueling aircraft to experience an up close view of the refueling process. The aircraft took off from Rickenbacker Air National Guard Base, Ohio and made its way to the East Coast to South Carolina with a total mission time of 3.5 hours. Faruk spent most his time in the cockpit with the pilots, watching and filming multiple “connections” and learning about the National Guard and their specific missions. He also enjoyed mingling with other guests, including the General during the operation.
“I had one of the most unique experiences of my life. The best part of the mission was seeing the eyeballs of the pilot below us. It got my adrenaline going crazy as I was laying there watching a huge planes approach us. I had a blast and was honored to represent ITC!”
